Aquarium of Cattolica

The largest aquarium on the Adriatic Coast in Italy

The Aquarium of Cattolica is today located in buildings erected in 1932 as Children Summer Holiday Homes. Inaugurated in 1934, this complex appeared as a real navy fleet ready for launching, with its flagship – the refectory – at the centre and its torpedoes – the dormitories – to its side. The whole project became a masterpiece of the Futurist Vanguard, the architectural style in fashion at the time. The whole structure has been totally refurbished in 1999 by the Cattolica Local Administration and it is protected by the Art and Architectural Superintendence Office of Ravenna for the uniqueness of its style. Today, this Aquarium with its 2,500.000 litres of sea water and 3,000 specimens of over 400 different species is the most important aquarium of the Adriatic region. A magic journey where Nature becomes Beauty and Entertainment with 3 different paths completely under cover which will turn the visit into a perfect goal for sunny or rainy days, for children and adults alike! HOTEL HANDY SEA IS ONLY 100 MTS. FROM AQUARIUM ENTRANCE
